Game details

Chuckie Egg is a platform video game published by A&F Software, released in 1983. The game was originally developed for the ZX Spectrum, the BBC Micro and the Dragon 32. Its popularity allowed it to be released during for the following years on Commodore 64, Acorn Electron, MSX, Tatung Einstein, Amstrad CPC and Atari 8-bit. It was later updated on the Amiga, Atari ST and IBM PC.

The player controls Harry, whose goal is to collect twelve eggs in each level before the countdown ends. Murderous ostriches roam unpredictably on platforms and ladders. The player can also ride elevators present in certain levels. Harry loses a life if he touches an ostrich, if he falls into a hole at the bottom of the level, or if an elevator takes him to the top of the level. Additionally, several piles of seeds can be collected before the ostriches eat them to increase points and stop the countdown for a while. The game starts again at the end of the eight levels with the appearance of a duck that chases Harry freely, but without the ostriches; then starts again a third and final time with the duck AND the ostriches circulating together; which makes 24 levels in total. The player starts with five lives and an extra life is awarded every 10,000 points
