Video description

An episode of the 1950s half-hour anthology series. This episode stars Charles Boyer, Andrea King and Allen Jenkins. Set in France, in this episode Boyer plays a thief who does a good deed. The episode aired 18 December 1952 at 8:30PM on CBS, and aired against "Treasury Men in Action" on NBC, "Broadway to Hollywood" on DuMont, and "Chance of a Lifetime" on ABC. It was among the first episodes of the series to be filmed (though the 7th to be broadcast), and was chosen to be shown to potential sponsors prior to the series being picked up by a network.

The newspaper Long Island Star Journal had seen a preview and commented "This may all sound and read like pretty slushy stuff and, at bottom, it is, but it's so very well done in every department that it comes out commercial drama of a very high type". Their description suggests that the original version of the episode was slightly different, as it ended with Boyer appearing in his dressing room and describing the next 3 episodes (this segment does not appear in this copy, and I have reasons to believe the segment was cut before the first broadcast).
