Video description

Over two years in the making! Watch as renowned Los Angeles-based mosaic artist, Jolino Beserra, artfully covers a 40-foot long, three-headed dragon with over 150,000 hands cut mosaic tiles to build one of the most amazing children's play sculptures ever conceived.

This short documentary tells the story of a miraculous piece of public art for children, from conception to completion.
The dragon sculpture project is part of the brand new Benito Juarez Park, which The Trust for Public Land developed in the City of Maywood, California. Maywood is one of the state's most densely populated and park-poor cities. This landmark piece of public sculpture is the centerpiece of the park, reflecting the Mexican-American heritage of this neighborhood's residents and the color, whimsy and magical creativity of Oaxacan art.
